ALS to Mormon Elder Pratt stating that the Indian aggressions still continue, with two men killed and two wounded. Young adds that the Mormons are still acting on the defensive, and that they are planning to build a twelve foot high wall around Salt Lake City. He notes that John M. Bernhisel, the Utah Mormon delegate to Congress, has been given a power of attorney to conduct church business. He asks Pratt to assist Horace S. Eldredge in finding a replacement for Eldredge, whose term in presiding over the St. Louis conference and acting as a general Church and emigration agent ends "next season."
